Our first week of His
Kids Camp started on Wednesday night. For those of you who don’t know what His
Kids Camp is, I will explain. It is a camp for people with special needs. They
have a staff member buddy and do many activities and we share the love of God. We
met our buddies and had supper and a message time with them. Thursday and
Friday were similar in schedule. We had Chapel on Thursday and Friday and heard
great messages. We played a few different games in our groups and did crafts. After
lunch we had nap time for a few hours then headed to get a snack at Trading
Post. Then there was time for the campers to go swimming, boating, play games
or just watch others both afternoons. We had a hayrack ride to the waterfront
area and back. Campers seem to love this and I enjoy it myself. :) Thursday
night we had a dance and watched Finding Nemo. At the dance we did square
dancing, the chicken dance, the YMCA, the bunny hop, Hokey Pokey and a few
other fun dances. Friday night we had a talent show. There was a variety of
talents that were shown in this show. Some campers sang and others danced. A
few did their own unique things. Including making meowing sounds and putt putt
golfing. It was very entertaining and fun to watch.
My buddy’s name was
Lori. She was really fun to hang out with and be around. I would tell her people’s
names and the schedule and many other random things and she had a pretty good
memory about almost all of the things I told her. She liked to color and
participated in many activities. At the talent show she sang Jesus Loves Me. There
were many memorable moments with Lori, but too many to tell. So I will just
tell of my favorite moments. She woke up early the last day and was ready by
about 6 am. She was packing things up for about an hour because the rest of us
were still sleeping. We got out of bed at around 7 to start getting ready and
she kept telling us to hurry and that we were being slow pokes. I had a great
time with her and can’t wait until the next camp.

~ I thank my God every
time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy
because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being
confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to
completion until the day of Christ Jesus. - Philippians 1:3-6
