I enjoyed time with family and friends before I left for camp. I arrived at camp on Friday, May 25th for training. I drove to camp and really had no idea what I would be doing and really didn't know anyone that I would be working with. I didn't really care at that point though because I knew that there was a plan and that I would learn about the rest of the staff and also about myself and of course learn more about God. The first few days, we did a lot of training, maintenance, bonding and bible studies.
Bonding has been a crazy experience. I don't know much about many of these people, but in a short period of time we have all fallen into a great relationship with one another and it is just an amazing feeling. Especially considering that we have only been here a short amount of time, today being the 6th day. We have watched a few movies the past couple nights and that will continue tonight. I have also played basketball a few times with part of the staff and really enjoyed that. The bible studies have also been a great experience. We have praised God through song and are going through the studies that we will be doing with the campers this summer. We have laughed and cried and have been reminded of how much God loves us and how wonderful our creator is.
On Saturday we had a few families that were willing to help us out so we had various jobs to do. I chose the job of painting some doors because I enjoy painting. Surprisingly I didn't get but a few drops of paint on me. That is a shock since every other time I paint I have gotten it all over myself. Monday was the start of our water slide renovation. There were many of us hard working to try to get as much done on it as we could. We dug the trench for the base of the slide a little deeper and a little wider than it was. Then we had to dig post holes so that we could later place in the posts to help with the structure of the slide. Tuesday I got to mix cement which was a pretty fun experience and help lay a few of the posts in place. As I am writing this it is raining outside and I am hoping that we won't have to dig the rest of the holes again later to finish the project, but have a feeling that we will.
This Sunday is the 45th anniversary of the camp so we will be helping out with those activities. Then the first week of His Kids camp starts next Wednesday.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of your blogs!
ReplyDeletePraying for you all as you embark on an outstanding summer worshipping God and sharing your love as well as the love our Savior with everyone you come into contact with.
Blessings :)
Jami
I am glad you will be reading them Jami. I took this as a way to have my family and friends know what I am doing and also to act as a journal for myself to look back on. Thank you so much for the prayers! I hope your summer goes well also!
